E-mployee Operating Model

ChatGPT plugin

Design work for AI e-mployees

View in ChatGPT directory

Business management workflows for leaders who put AI agents to work in their organization. E-mployee Operating Model helps you decide which AI work deserves a defined role, then design how that work is directed, governed, measured and owned. It turns the leadership instruments from Dr. Jonah Tebaa's book The E-mployee Operating Model into step-by-step workflows.

Use it to:

  • Audit whether an AI rollout is producing accountable work or only activity
  • Test whether a proposed agent qualifies as an E-mployee role: include, defer or exclude
  • Check whether leaders have the five capacities needed to direct AI work
  • Design an AI initiative outcome-first, before choosing a tool
  • Choose the first AI role to commission with the Opportunity Matrix
  • Write and approve a 13-field E-mployee Role Charter
  • Grant, limit and revoke action powers with an Authority Matrix
  • Build a Value Ledger that counts review effort, risk and distribution, not just time saved
  • Decide whether a role is promoted, held or demoted on the Autonomy Ladder
  • Classify risk and set proportionate controls
  • Map accountability and run an incident review when AI output is wrong
  • Redesign the human organization chart and review a portfolio of AI roles
  • Plan a gated 90-day roadmap for a first role

Each workflow produces a concrete artifact (a table, a verdict and a list of gaps) that a leadership team can take into a decision meeting. It asks only for what it needs and marks unknowns as missing rather than guessing.

Intended for CEOs, executives, operations and transformation leaders, and managers who direct AI agents. The instruments are author-created management tools. They are not legal advice, a compliance certification or a guarantee, and the workflows flag where legal, privacy, security or labor specialists must review.

Skills

  • ai-access-audit

Run the access audit from The E-mployee Operating Model on an AI rollout or initiative and decide whether it should scale, change, pause or stop. Use when someone asks whether their AI program is real work with an owner, or only logins, seats and activity reported as adoption.

  • ai-incident-response

Map who authorized, supervised, inspected, released, can explain and will remediate an AI result, and run the nine-step incident sequence from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when an AI agent got something wrong, for a post-incident review, or to map accountability before launch.

  • authority-matrix

Draft or review an Authority Matrix that sets which of seven action powers an AI role holds, with thresholds, review, escalation, expiry and revocation, from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when someone asks what an AI agent should be allowed to do, or whether it may send, spend, approve or act on its own.

  • autonomy-review

Run a periodic E-mployee performance review with the ten-dimension scorecard and the Autonomy Ladder, ending in a promote, hold, demote, retrain/redesign or retire decision, from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when someone asks whether an AI agent should get more autonomy, be pulled back, or have its performance reviewed.

  • e-mployee-inclusion-test

Classify a proposed AI system or agent with the E-mployee inclusion test from The E-mployee Operating Model and decide whether to include, defer or exclude it as an E-mployee role. Use when someone asks whether an agent, copilot or "digital worker" is a real role, or how to classify entries in an AI registry.

  • e-mployer-capability-audit

Audit whether a team or organization can direct AI work, using the five capacities of the E-mployee Doctrine from The E-mployee Operating Model, and list the missing work. Use when someone asks if they are ready to manage AI agents, or before announcing an AI operating model or agent rollout.

  • first-role-selection

Compare candidate AI roles with the Opportunity Matrix, nine selection factors and the rejection test, then draft a board-ready first-role decision, from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when someone asks which AI agent, role or use case to start with, or wants to compare, shortlist or reject candidates.

  • get-started

Orient a new user to the E-mployee Operating Model workflows and route them to the right one. Use after installation, or when someone asks what this plugin does, where to start, or how to give AI a real job in their organization.

  • human-ai-org-chart

Draw a Human + AI Organization Chart and a Role Redesign Canvas showing who directs, reviews, can stop and can retire each AI role, and what changes for the people around it. Use when restructuring a team or org chart around AI agents, or when asking what happens to people's jobs.

  • ninety-day-roadmap

Build a 90-Day E-mployer Roadmap that moves one bounded AI role through six evidence and decision gates to a go, revise, pause, stop, retire or refuse decision. Use when someone asks for a 90-day plan, a pilot plan or a launch plan to get a first AI agent or role live.

  • outcome-first-design

Design an AI use outcome-first with The E-mployee Operating Model and produce a one-page outcome brief, or decide whether a technology-first AI pilot should be deferred. Use when someone says "we want to use AI for X", asks "should we run this AI pilot?", or has picked a tool and needs to define the work.

  • portfolio-review

Review a portfolio of AI agents against the E-mployee Maturity Curve, the role registry, dependencies and review capacity, and decide what to scale, narrow, hold, pause or retire. Use when an organization has several AI agents to manage or scale, or for a board review of its AI portfolio.

  • risk-classification

Rate an AI use on stakes, reversibility, rights/data exposure and blast radius, set its Low, Elevated or High control tier, and test whether its controls have owners and actually work. Use for a governance review, or when someone asks how risky an AI agent is and what controls it needs.

  • role-charter

Write or review an E-mployee Role Charter, the 13-field operating specification for a standing AI role, from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when someone wants to define, document, approve or challenge a recurring AI agent's job, scope, permissions, reviewer or stop conditions.

  • value-ledger

Build or review the nine-field Value Ledger for an AI role and reach a go, revise, pause or retire decision, from The E-mployee Operating Model. Use when someone asks whether an AI agent is actually paying off, wants its ROI or business case, or is reporting hours saved as value.
