FIRMEN.directory is a company directory for Switzerland, Austria and Germany. This plugin lets ChatGPT look up companies in it.
What you can ask
- Register facts about a company: legal form, UID (Switzerland) or Firmenbuch number (Austria), seat, status, registered purpose, share capital and former names.
- Companies of a trade in a town, postcode, canton or Bundesland, for example accountants in 8400 Winterthur or tax advisers in Tirol.
- Whether a company still exists, and under which name a company with a former name is registered today.
- Listings that business owners maintain themselves, with their short description, website and public phone number.
Where the data comes from Swiss entries come from Zefix, the central business name index of the Federal Commercial Registry Office (EHRA). Austrian entries come from the Firmenbuch, published as open data by the Republic of Austria, represented by the Federal Ministry of Justice (CC BY 4.0). Every answer names its source. The plugin returns active companies only.
What it does not do It does not search for persons, gives no contact details for register entries, keeps no lists of insolvencies or deletions, and gives no credit information. It is a private directory, not the official register, and its data has no legal effect. For a certified extract use zefix.admin.ch or JustizOnline.
How results are ordered Name match first, then listings maintained by the owner, then rating (from three reviews), then name. Paid plans on FIRMEN.directory have no influence on inclusion, order or presentation, and the plugin shows no advertising.
No account is needed and the plugin is free. Each result links to the company's profile on FIRMEN.directory. Answers are in your language; company data and source lines are German.

Check a company in Switzerland or Austria before a contract, an order or a payment, with the FIRMEN.directory tools. Use it when the user wants to verify a business partner, supplier, customer or landlord; asks whether a company exists or is still registered; or wants to compare a name, UID or Firmenbuch number from an invoice, offer or contract with the commercial register (Zefix) or the Firmenbuch. Returns legal form, UID or Firmenbuch number, seat, status, founding date, purpose and former names, and where the registers list the company its LEI, its latest register entries and supervision by FINMA, a SECO licence or a Swissmedic registration. Not for finding persons, contact details of register entries, credit ratings or lists of insolvencies.
